Only a short while had passed after this when Imam Alī (a) stood up saying: “Condolences to you all and may Allah (swt) increase your reward for the pain of losing your Prophet, for indeed Allah has taken his soul!” Upon hearing this, voices were raised in crying. This was the saddest day in the history of mankind and the most painful blow to the hearts of the Muslims. No other day saw more crying and weeping than that day.
