In 1966, he went to Najaf. \nHe studied under Syed al-Khui, Ayatullah Syed Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr and other great scholars. He wrote many books, the most well-known among which was a commentary of the Holy Qur\u2019an titled \u2018al-Kawthar\u2019 in 10 Volumes. Subsequently, he wrote a summary of this commentary in one volume. He was fluent in Urdu, Arabic, Farsi and Punjabi.
